Fiona Flynn

1 February 2012 - 5th April 2012

Fiona Flynn's practice encompasses drawing, three-dimensional and performative works, responding to materials and locations she has visited, often working collaboratively. Fylnn's most recent projects have taken her as far afield as Jerusalem, Lithuania and Estonia.

During the Fellowship Flynn will take part in the annual Thupelo International Artists Workshop, hosted by Bag Factory, in Johannesburg, South Africa. This workshop, the first of which took place in 1985, seeks to create the conditions in which artists are able to experiment and to find new or different forms of expression- the interaction between artists from diverse cultural, national and social backgrounds provides the workshop with a creative energy that, in turn, influences the work of participating artists.

The Bag Factory was established in 1991, includes 18 artists studios and a gallery space, is situated on the western edge of Johannesburg and prides itself in being one the first collective studio spaces for visual arts in South Africa.
