Ingela Johansson lives and works in Stockholm. Her residency is supported by IASPIS in Sweden.
Johansson’s research-based work adopts a variety of media and includes the organisation of exhibitions, conferences and publications. Her interest is focused on ways in which different institutional models are structured and how power relations can be contested from within institutions. During her residency, Johansson will investigate public employment histories, with particular attention to the role and structure of trade unions and other workers’ organisations, operating around the mining industry in the UK and Sweden. Borrowing methods including investigative journalism and archival film, Johansson will collect material that will form part of a new piece of work developed during the residency.
