We are pleased to invite local businesses, community groups and residents to join us for coffee, tea and pastries at The Foundry (a social justice hub based across the road from Gasworks) at 9am, followed by a tour of Juha Pekka Matias Laakkonen's exhibition Buoyancy at Gasworks, at 10am.

For his solo exhibition, Laakkonen reflects on the profound impact of human interactions with the environment. The artist will gradually bring an extinct sea cow back into existence over a series of weeks, as he carefully crafts and assembles a wooden replica of this creature’s huge skeleton in the gallery, based solely on a written description from the 18th century.

The Foundry is a RIBA award winning centre offering office, meeting, conference and exhibition space to social justice and human rights focused organisations, and is based just across the road from Gasworks, at 17 Oval Way, London, SE11 5RR.
