Gasworks' studio artist and Turner Prize winner Tai Shani has produced Runway, an exclusive edition of three sculptures to be sold to benefit Gasworks. Shani's works typically fill entire gallery spaces and this unique table-top edition is a rare example of her sculptural work in a collectable format.

Based on her recent commission Tragodía, a virtual reality play and large-scale installation, her Gasworks' edition is a site for myth-making. The topography of each sculpture alludes to a utopian archeological site that has the potential to exist at any point in the future or ancient past, without any connection to a specific place or known civilisation. Made from laser-cut wood treated with Jesmonite, each sculpture comes with protective amulets - a bronze hand and a crystal ball.

This signature work is highly reflective of Tai Shani's overall practice which includes performance, film, photography and sculptural installation to explore disparate histories, narratives and characters mined from experimental texts. The fantastical worlds she creates are drawn from diverse cultural mythologies, referencing science fiction, Greek tragedies and various traditions of theatrical spectacle.
